Why do I need to enrol in the National Digital ID (NDID) platform to use a PayPal Thailand Personal account?
Financial services providers like PayPal are obliged under Thai law to verify the identity of their customers, which helps us keep PayPal safe for everyone using it. As Thailand’s digital identity verification service, NDID will allow us to authenticate your identity in a standardised, reliable, fast and safe manner.
We're using NDID to help us verify the identity of customers seeking to use PayPal Thailand personal accounts (including existing account holders whose accounts will be transferred to PayPal Thailand). For us to transfer your account to PayPal Thailand, you must be enrolled in the NDID Service. Otherwise, you'll no longer be able to use your PayPal account later this year.
To enrol in NDID, a Thai national ID is currently required. You just need to take a few steps either using your Thai bank’s mobile app or by visiting a branch of your participating Thai bank. As the enrolment process may require you to visit your bank in person, we encourage you to enrol in NDID at your earliest convenience.
You may contact the participating bank you’re seeking to enrol in NDID through for assistance. Also, you can find more detailed information on the enrolment process on NDID's FAQ page, as well as on the PayPal Thailand website (please see the "Consumers/Non-registered businesses" tab).
* NDID participating banks include Bangkok Bank, CIMB Thai, Government Housing Bank, Government Savings Bank, Kasikorn Bank, Kiatnakin Phatra Bank, Krungsri, Siam Commercial Bank and TMB Thanachart.
